Publicist Assistant Internship

Jecoby&Company is seeking a vibrant, energetic, and dedicated entry-level Publicist Assistant to join our growing team!

As a Publicist Assistant Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of public relations and media relations. You will work closely with Jecoby to assist in various tasks to support the execution of effective PR strategies for clients. This internship is designed to provide you with valuable industry knowledge and help you develop essential skills in public relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Media Monitoring and Research:

    • Monitor media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, online platforms, and social media channels, for client mentions, industry trends, and relevant news.

    • Conduct research on media contacts, influencers, and potential target audiences for clients' PR campaigns.

    • Compile and organize media lists and databases.

  2. Content Creation and Editing:

    • Assist in drafting press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.

    • Proofread and edit written content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

    • Create and update media kits, bios, and backgrounders for clients.

  3. Media Outreach and Relationship Building:

    • Support publicists in conducting outreach to journalists, bloggers, and influencers for press coverage and media opportunities.

    • Assist in coordinating interviews, media appearances, and press events for clients.

    • Help maintain positive relationships with media contacts through regular communication and follow-ups.

  4. Administrative Support:

    • Assist in organizing and maintaining PR files, press clippings, and coverage reports.

    • Coordinate logistics for client meetings, events, and promotional activities.

    • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling phone calls.

  5. Social Media Management:

    • Assist in managing and updating clients' social media accounts.

    • Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms.

    • Monitor social media channels and respond to inquiries or comments as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field (or recent graduate).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with media monitoring tools is a plus.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
